Monday Blog: Bicameral mind

As I mentioned in my previous blog, I’m born of two cultures or heritages, sometimes I attribute the side of my brain that is analytical and rational as my Spanish roots, while my looser intuitive side I naturally attribute that to my Indian roots.

Going with this left/right brain notion I began a drawing(the image on the right in the photo) on paper and I had this idea/vision of yellow lines(I didn’t plan it so it’s sort of intuitive), and then I drew thicker heavier lines next to narrow colored lines that implied weight as well as a visual momentary base for the eye to rest before looking further.

The drawing on the left I found myself having to make out of necessity as just drawing lines made my eyes hurt and I felt compelled to be free, untethered and creative with the iconic tribal codex of symbols that I’ve invented for myself.

This is what having a bicameral visual mind looks like on paper.
